This instructional program will provide students with the required skills and expertise to be employable in the field of computer networking as computer networking technicians and/or network administrators.
The required skill and expertise will be provided through course work in the design, telecommunications, installation, maintenance, network administration of client/server systems, and operation of computer networks.
This program leads to an Associate of Applied Science Degree and is preparatory for employment upon graduation from MGCCC. Where a transfer to 4-year college or university is desired, a conference should be scheduled with a MGCCC advisor.
All students completing a career or technical program must complete either the MS-CPAS (Mississippi Career Planning and Assessment System) or an MGCCC Board- approved Technical Skills Attainment assessment where applicable. Students should see an advisor for further details.
All students completing the Computer Networking Technology Program MUST take the CIW Network Technology Associate (NTA) certification exam after 30 hours of credit AND the Cisco Certified Technician Routing and Switching (CCT-RSTECH) certification exam after 45 hours of credit. Students should see an advisor for further details.
