(Harrison County Campus)

Computer network professionals create and support networks to ensure they operate efficiently and securely. Because computer networks have become the backbone of every business, education, and government institution that uses computers, jobs in this area are plentiful. This program provides students with the required skills and expertise to become computer networking technicians and/or network administrators.

The Computer Networking Technology: Internet of Things Option is a sequence of classes, resulting in a certificate, that can be added on to other programs. Students will be prepared to work on operational and informational systems. Students will identify standard business processes and security concerns when implementing IoT solutions, learn to install and configure various IoT devices and sensors to be used in both smart homes and commercial settings, develop and create working prototypes of IoT devices, and develop an IoT system.

This program leads to an Associate of Applied Science Degree and is preparatory for employment upon graduation from MGCCC. Where a transfer to four-year college or university is desired, a conference should be scheduled with an MGCCC advisor.

All students completing a career or technical program must complete an MGCCC Board-approved Technical Skills Attainment where applicable. Students should see an advisor for further details.

In addition, the Computer Networking Technology Concentration program offers an additional concentration: Computer Networking Technology Gaming Surveillance Concentration .
