(Jackson County and Jefferson Davis Campuses)

The Drafting and Design Technology program of study is designed to provide specialized occupational instruction in all phases of drafting technology to prepare students for positions in the drafting field. A combination of class work and laboratory experience is stressed.

The content of this curriculum framework is based on national standards as developed by the Foundation for Industrial Modernization (1994), National Skill Standards for Computer-Aided Drafting and Design. Also, the Computer Aided Drafting and Design Skill Standards, as developed by the National Coalition for Advanced Manufacturing (1999), are reviewed.

This program leads to an Associate in Applied Science Degree and is preparatory for employment upon graduation from MGCCC. Where a transfer to a senior college or university is desired, a conference should be scheduled with a community college counselor for advisement.

All students completing a career or technical program must complete either the MS-CPAS (Mississippi Career Planning and Assessment System) or an MGCCC Board- approved Technical Attainment Assessment where applicable. See your advisor for further details.
