(Jackson County Campus)
The Marine Electrical program is a one-year certificate option within the Electronics Technology curriculum that is designed to prepare students for entry-level jobs in the shipbuilding industry. This program was developed in coordination with stakeholders within the shipbuilding industry. The curriculum parallels the related-studies curriculum used for HII’s Department of Labor-approved electrical apprenticeship program. Students will learn concepts used in the shipbuilding industry through participation in lecture and lab-based instruction.
This program may lead to an Associate in Applied Science of Occupational Education Degree and is preparatory for employment upon graduation from MGCCC. Where a transfer to a senior college or university is desired, a conference should be scheduled with a community college counselor for advisement.
All students completing a career or technical program must complete either the MS-CPAS (Mississippi Career Planning and Assessment System) or an MGCCC Board- approved Technical Attainment Assessment where applicable. See your advisor for further details.
