Heartsaver First Aid, CPR & AED
NON-CREDIT TRAINING
Course Description: The American Heart Association’s core heartsaver classroom courses, for those with little or no medical training, include Heartsaver First Aid, Heartsaver CPR - AED and Heartsaver First Aid CPR - AED. Instructor-led courses teach participants critical skills needed to respond to and manage an emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services (EMS) takes over. Depending on the course, participants learn how to recognize, respond to and treat a variety of first aid emergencies, perform CPR and use an AED in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest. These courses meet the requirements for most child care centers, pools, and non-healthcare employers. Cost: $50 paid at Business Office - Testing fees for the books and exam are included in course fee. (The MGCCC Non-Credit Refund Policy is on the Registration form).
Requirements:
- Prerequisite: Student must be physically able to perform CPR and able to read and write in order to successfully take the written and skills exams required for this course.
Steps for admission into the training are listed below:
I. Heartsaver First Aid, CPR & AED Application Process:
a) Complete the Non-Credit Registration form listing Heartsaver First Aid, CPR & AED as the course name and include a listed course date of interest (can be found on the MGCCC Community Education webpage or at the campus location).
b) Email or fax the form to the Nursing Skills Lab, Simulation and Continuing Education Manager located at the campus of your choice offering the training (a valid personal email address must be made available on the registration form).
c) Following an email from the Nursing Skills Lab, Simulation and Continuing Education Manager confirming acceptance of the date, time and location, the $50 course fee must be paid at a campus business office (a valid personal email address must be made available on the registration form)
d) Enrollment will be based on a first come first serve condition following submission of the:
a. Non-credit Registration form
b. Full course payment which is made at the MGCCC campus business office.
Note: To enter the training session, the business office receipt must be made available to the Heartsaver First Aid, CPR & AED Instructor.
e) Within 7-14 business days the CPR card will be made available either electronically (sent to email on registration form) or for pick up at the office of the Nursing Skills Lab, Simulation and Continuing Education Manager
Note: MGCCC reserves the right to substitute instructors, change class schedules, and cancel programs due to insufficient enrollment or unforeseen circumstances.
