IV Therapy Certification – LPN Expanded Role
NON-CREDIT PROGRAM
This non-credit healthcare program prepares the Mississippi Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to perform procedures related to the expanded scope of intravenous therapy in a licensed hospital, licensed skilled nursing facility and a certified end-stage renal dialysis unit. If you are an LPN in the state of Mississippi and wish to practice IV therapy- you will need to expand your role. This non-credit program aligns with the state Board of Nursing curriculum which sets forth very specific rules of what needs to be done to achieve this goal.
Course Description: This 80 hour class approved by the Mississippi Board of Nursing includes a curriculum comprised of 40 hours of hybrid/online didactic theory and a campus-based clinical practice comprised of 40 hours of campus lab and clinic training. The theory portion encompasses the board approved standardized IV therapy curriculum and the clinical practice includes required skillsets in the campus lab and clinical settings that are appropriate for achievement of the IV component for the eligible licensed practical nurse interested in obtaining an expanded role. The first 20 applicants with accurate and complete documentation will be accepted into the program. Cost: $400 (includes textbook). (The MGCCC Non-Credit Refund Policy is on the Registration form).
