Network Security Technology

(Jefferson Davis Campus)

Network Security Technology is a two-year program that offers practical training in the areas of confidentiality, integrity, and availability in information security. The program entails installation, design, management, operation, planning, and troubleshooting of a secure information-technology infrastructure. The knowledge will aid in providing a reliable, scalable, consistent, responsive, and secure enterprise network.

This program trains students to deter and prevent cybercrimes such as identity and data theft, hacking, and invasion of privacy. The training merges advanced skills in mathematics, networking, and programming – all talents that are in heavy demand by industries who fear cyber attacks on their most treasured assets: their data and network systems.

This program leads to an Associate of Applied Science Degree and is preparatory for employment upon graduation from MGCCC. Where a transfer to 4-year college or university is desired, a conference should be scheduled with a MGCCC advisor.

All students completing a career or technical program must complete either the MS-CPAS (Mississippi Career Planning and Assessment System) or an MGCCC Board- approved Technical Skills Attainment assessment where applicable. Students should see an advisor for further details.
