Practical Nursing Exit Option

(Spring and Summer Semesters)

The Practical Nursing (PN) Program Option includes one (1) semester of prerequisites and three (3) semesters of nursing course work. The curriculum consists of nursing courses included in the first year of the ADN (Associate Degree Nursing) curriculum, as well as, one (1) semester of PNV courses.

Successful completion of the practical nursing curriculum and/or practical nursing exit semester leads to a career diploma. With success on the the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nursing (NCLEX-PN), graduates are eligible to apply for LPN Licensure through the Mississippi Board of Nursing.

Tuition

  •  Fall/Spring Full-Time Tuition (15-21 credit hours) - $1,550*
  • Fall/Spring Full-Time Out-of-State Tuition - $3,100*
  •  Part-Time Tuition - $155 per credit hour*
  • Part-Time Out-of-State Tuition - $310 per credit hour*
  • Summer Full-Time Tuition (12-15 hours) - $1,550*
  • Students enrolled in more than 21 hours for Fall and Spring will be charged an additional $155 per credit hour.
  • Students enrolled in more than 15 hours for Summer will be charged an additional $155 per credit hour.

Other Fees

  • Registration Fee - $100
  • Technology Fee - $75
  • Online Fee - $15 per credit hour
  • Book Service Fee - $40 per book*
  • Science Lab Fee - $25
  • Art Lab Fee - $50
  • Career/Technical Program Fees:  A PER CREDIT HOUR fee will be charged for career/technical classes based on Program of Study
  • Delinquent Fee - $40 assessed on any and all balances after the final payment date
  • Other miscellaneous charges may apply according to program of study
  • Dual Credit High School classes - $100 per class

*Tuition and book rental fees are the only refundable fees.  All other fees are NON-refundable.

Prior to Entering Program

  • TEAS Entrance Exam $76 - $85 (Register at http://www.atitesting.com)                              
  • Criminal Background Check $65 - $80 (MGCCC Campus Police)

Once Admitted into Program

  • Career and Technical Program Fee $45 per credit hour
  • Pre-admission Physical Exam and Immunizations $200 - $300                                              
  • E-books $1,200 - $1,500 - (No rentals or hard books required)                                                                  
  • Substance Testing $29 - $35 per semester                           
  • Liability Insurance $12 - $15 per semester
  • Nursing Achievement Tests $155 - $165 per semester                       
  • Workbooks, additional purchase items, supplies $300 - $500                    
  • Uniform, Lab Coat, Shoes, Accessories $200 - $300
  • Student Nurse Organization per year $40 - $60                                                                                       
  • Nursing Conventions per semester $150 estimated (Required all semesters)
  • Skills Lab Bag Fee $10 - $50

Practical Nursing Exit Option


For additional information regarding the Practical Nursing Exit option, please refer to the Practical Nursing Program information.

The Practical Nursing Exit Option continues the preparation for students to enter the nursing career ladder as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). The Practical Nursing Exit Option is accredited by the Mississippi Department of Education and the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, Inc. (ACEN). Students, who successfully complete the first two semesters of the nursing program may choose to declare the PN Exit option.

Admission Steps for the Practical Nursing Exit Option:


  • Successfully meet the Nursing Admission Requirements.
  • Ranked and Selected for Admission.
  • Successful completion of prerequisites and Freshman Year of Nursing (ADN) Curriculum.
  • Completion of Practical Nursing Exit Option Declaration form by mid-term of the 2nd semester.
