DHT 1952 - Local Anesthesia and Pain Management

This course is designed to instruct and prepare the dental hygiene student to appropriately carry out treatment plans and successfully administer topical and local anesthesia. This course comprises the pre-anesthetic evaluation of the patient, management of the medically compromised patient, anatomy and physiology, the pharmacology of local anesthetics, and emergency management as they relate to the administration of local anesthetics. The student will learn how to perform the proper techniques of local anesthesia injections safely and competently. (2,1,2)
